Ethics: Innovation through technology
During a trip to Reno, Nevada to promote the family’s wine business at a trade fair, Mario Moretti Polegato decides to take a walk. Bothered by his overheated feet which were clad in rubber-soled shoes, he instinctively punctured holes into the soles to let air through. He had just discovered a simple and effective way to let excess heat out of his shoes. This became the world’s first ‘breathable sole’.
The innovative technology behind Geox allows the foot to breathe while the soles remain water-tight. This is coupled with sleek Italian design and detailing to create a range of attractive work and weekend shoes.
The Geox brand name comes from the Greek word geo (i.e. Earth), on which we all walk, and the letter x, which stands for the technology element and parallels company ethics.
